As NC State Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteers, we empower North Carolinians to cultivate healthy plants, landscapes, ecosystems, and communities through volunteer service that delivers research-based information, educational programming, and community outreach.
Impact Stories
In 2025 alone, over 4,000 Master Gardener volunteers dedicated more than 244,000 hours of service to North Carolina communities. Guided by NC State Extension professionals, we shared our passion and expertise with more than 335,000 North Carolinians, delivering trusted, research-based education across the state.
Through teaching classes, tending demonstration gardens, and supporting youth and therapeutic horticulture programs, we help people grow smarter, greener, and healthier. Our volunteer work empowers individuals to cultivate not just plants, but also stronger and healthier communities.
