Please join us on Wednesday, June 26, in Wilmington for a day of learning, networking, and fun that will feature:

  • A tour of the New Hanover County Arboretum that will demonstrate strategies, answer questions, and address concerns raised during the Demonstration Garden Symposium held January 12, 2024
  • Lightning talks that address common challenges facing Extension professionals working in consumer horticulture
  • Strategies for working together across the state to effectively evaluate the impact and tell the story of our pollinator programming work

  • Each slide has a different theme. Add sticky notes to ask questions and share strategies that work
  • You are welcome to organize sticky notes into common topics and add additional slides

All Extension professionals with consumer horticulture programming responsibilities are encouraged to attend this in-person workshop funded by the Consumer & Youth Horticulture Working Group.

This workshop is on the same day that the North Carolina Association of County Agricultural Agent State Meeting begins. This is a great opportunity for agents to attend the workshop and then join the conference in Wrightsville Beach, which is around 9 minutes away from the New Hanover County Extension Center and Arboretum.

The Southeast District has planned a wonderful meeting for you to enjoy the NC coast as well as participate in continuing education opportunities.

Professional development sessions of special interest to horticulture agents include:
  • Developing a homeowner gardening program led by Marshall Warren
  • New agent issues led by Joanna Radford,
  • A great tour of sea oats production and dune restoration

Other opportunities to learn and interact with agriculture agents from across the state during the conference include an evening cookout at the New Hanover County Arboretum, communications awards breakfast, state board meeting, keynote lunch, awards banquet, and tour options around the coast.
