Four wolves running across a red background with the Day of Giving March 26 date above and hashtag GivingPack.Grow the Future of the Extension Master Gardener Program on Day of Giving!

Mark your calendar for March 26—NC State’s Day of Giving! This year, your support will have both an immediate impact on statewide programming and a lasting effect through an incredible $10,000 challenge gift to the NC Extension Master Gardener℠ endowment.

Every day, Extension Master Gardener (EMG) volunteers like you share research-based knowledge, inspire sustainable gardening practices, and make North Carolina’s communities greener and healthier through education and outreach.

Now, you have the opportunity to expand your impact even further!

How Your Gift Will Make a Difference Now

Your Day of Giving donations will be combined with existing Endowment income to develop and deliver new advanced training and programming resources that will expand your expertise, strengthen your ability to educate the public, and help you make a lasting impact on your community’s health and environment.

What will this look like?

After Day of Giving, we’ll seek input from volunteers and Extension professionals to identify the most urgent issues communities are facing that can be addressed through consumer horticulture education—such as food security, pollinator conservation, water quality, and human health. A team will then develop educational programming and advanced training to equip volunteers with the knowledge and tools needed to make a meaningful impact.

Your gift will help fund:

  • Project coordination and management to turn ideas into action
  • Advanced training that equips volunteers with new knowledge and skills
  • Materials and resources to bring educational programming to your community

These training and programming resources will roll out over the next 12 – 18 months, ensuring that your support on Day of Giving translates into real, measurable impact across North Carolina.

How Unlocking the Challenge Gift Will Make a Difference Forever

When we raise $5,000 on Day of Giving, a generous donor will contribute $10,000 to the NC Extension Master Gardener endowment—an investment that will support the program for generations to come!

Unlike regular donations, gifts to the Endowment are invested in perpetuity, with annual interest providing long-term funding for EMG programs and initiatives. Thanks to the generosity of Master Gardener volunteers and supporters, the Endowment has grown to $147,000 and generated nearly $22,000 in interest income since its founding in 2007.

Endowment Income Funds Have Supported:

By unlocking this $10,000 challenge gift, you’ll increase the long-term capacity of the endowment—ensuring the continued growth and success of the Extension Master Gardener program for years to come.

Your Support Matters

On March 26, let’s come together to strengthen the NC Extension Master Gardener program—now and for the future.

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Make a Gift: Your donation on March 26, no matter the size, brings us closer to our goal.
  2. Spread the Word: Share this opportunity with friends, family and fellow garden lovers!
