Every year, more than 4,000 NC State Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteers dedicate over 200,000 service hours to helping North Carolinians grow healthier gardens, landscapes, and communities. Their collective knowledge and commitment support sustainable gardening education that reaches more than 300,000 people annually.

While their time is priceless, philanthropic support from individual volunteers, local associations, and friends of the program helps amplify their impact. Together, these generous donors are growing a lasting resource for the future: The NC Extension Master Gardener Endowment.

As of December 31, 2024, the endowment’s market value reached $147,000, thanks to ongoing contributions from supporters across the state. Since its founding in 2007, the endowment has generated nearly $22,000 in interest income, directly supporting volunteer training, education, and recognition through:
